!Blizzard for Sale!

Poor poor Vivendi Universal. The French Media conglomorate has really been having a tough time of late – it’s stock has fallen 73%, the chairman got booted after his ‘acquire everything’ strategy didn’t seem to pan out, and now it’s game division is up for sale. This division consists of several development studios including Universal Interactive, Sierra Entertainment, and, the crown jewel, Blizzard Entertainment (Starcraft, Warcraft, and Diablo makers for those that might not know).

This story speculates that both Sega and Microsoft might be looking to buy – Vivendi Universal is hoping to get 2 billion euros (so what, that’s like a buck 75?) for the company while most analysts think the present value is closer to 1.1 billion euros.

If Microsoft was looking to acquire some top notch titles to further push great content on their X-box (and all reports say that Redmond has been combing the ranks), this would be a great opportunity. Starcraft II exclusively on X-box???? I could think of worse things. :)
